At the end of the 1940's Los Angeles was a fast-growing metropolis. World War II had funneled masses of troops through the ports of Southern California, and many returned to this sunny shore after the war.

But a cloud hung over the town in the form of Mickey Cohen - an East Coast gangster who had claimed L.A. as his own. He had many of the judges and police in his pocket and had intimidiated everyone else. But a small cadre of honest cops with war-time commando training took on Mickey's rackets and tried to drive him out of town.

This true story stars Sean Penn as Mickey Cohen and Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Anthony Mackie, Robert Patrick, and Giovanni Ribisi as the Gangster Squad that goes after him.
